Mother Mandala

is an investigative journey into the spheres of the patterns of the Darmstadt Art Deco, Hindu Mandala, the Christian Rose Window, the Maya Tzolk'in and the Persian Shamseh.

The first layer of the mandala consists of donated, coloured clothes, which are enriched with small treasures. The personal stories behind the dresses are presented in a digital form on the Internet. Ultimately, each segment is linked to the history of the garments, their previous owner and their contemporary history.

Mother Mandala celebrates the origin and the connection to nature and its healing powers, as well as complex connections in the Mandala, on the Internet and the underground "communication networks" in the forest through mushrooms and roots. In Mother Mandala the pieces and their history are symbolically honoured.

About the Mother Mandala Dresses

Identity and COVID-19 Various newspapers launched a call and in this way brought people together, resulting in this interesting set of patterns and colors, but also wonderful memories from all walks of life. Just as uprooting people through globalization can lead to an identity crisis, dealing with the problems of a pandemic reflects a country's identity and culture. Fashion reflected the values of a society and is strongly linked to the definition of identity. With fast fashion, we are increasingly losing touch with the value of our clothes-new clothes are tied to fewer and fewer memories. 85 percent of all clothing, often made with slave labor, ends up in the trash, some without being worn. The fashion industry is one of the biggest polluters, the synthetic fibers of clothing are the biggest contributor to microplastics and their problems for our bodies and the environment. Mother Mandala seeks to inspire each of us to live more sustainably. Spend less - live more!
